Hey, it's Dustyn.
I know it’s only been 4 days since my last email, but as we all know, in today’s world 4 days is a long time. The last thing I wanted to send you was another postponement email, but that’s exactly what this is. Keep reading though, because we’ve come up with a pretty outstanding solution to make it up to you.
So to get it out of the way, yes, Peak Pride at Silver Star has been postponed. The new dates are now March 31st to April 3rd. With Silver Star feeling a staffing crunch due to sickness right now, and with rules constantly changing, we couldn’t in good conscience go ahead with the event. Our goal at Rebellious Unicorns has first and foremost been to always curate outstanding events, and at the current time we didn’t think Peak Pride was going to clear the bar we set. Luckily, we’re confident that come March, we’ll be able to give you the party you deserve!
In the meantime, all is not lost! Since our talent is coming to Kelowna anyways, we’ve set our privates to pivot, and have created a kick-ass kick off event for the Peak Pride season. We’re calling it the Licorne Lounge. Did we mention it’s gonna. Kick. Ass?
Here’s the blurb with more:
Peak Pride and Rebellious Unicorns are pleased to present our latest and greatest event, the Licorne Lounge… and no, that’s not some deviant term. It’s just unicorn in french. (Buy Licorne Lounge Tickets)
We’re billing it as the kickoff for the Peak Pride season, since we can’t actually host a Peak Pride yet (they’re coming, we promise!). This one of a kind event is taking place at the Kelowna Community Theater THIS Saturday evening, and will feature drag performances, live music and plenty of good times. Oh did we mention 2000$ of giveaways to those in attendance as well?
We know you’re already online buying tickets, but just so you know, here’s who's coming. We’re going to have musical performances from Matthew Presidente as well as Leila Neverland. The former plays the keyboard like my mom wishes I did, and the latter has a voice you just have to hear. Joining them will be local Kelowna diva, Sparkle. Oh, and of course three stars from the show Call Me Mother; Ella, Valerie Hunt, and season one winner, Toddy. The icing on the cake? We’ve managed to convince Scarlett Bobo to come join our crew. She starred, and was a finalist on season one of Canada’s Drag Race. She might even swallow some fire. Guess you’ll have to come and find out.
Speaking of FIRE, how about our fire giveaways for the night? Prizes include a 750$ two night ski-and-stay package for Peak Pride at Silver Star on April 1st, a 500$ Air Canada gift card, and a portable Absolut hammock. Not to mention the other smaller prizes we’ll be giving away throughout the event.
We can’t wait to see you. Tickets are 39.99$+GST, or if you can’t make it to the in person event, you can always watch the livestream.
On top of that, I’ve talked to our friends over at DunnEnzies who’ve agreed to help us host a drag brunch the next day, on Jan 23rd. Scarlett, Toddy, Valerie, and Ella will all be there doing what they do best, being *redacted*. Oh and performing! We’re also going to have a Q&A with the artists. Two seatings will occur; first at 11:30 am and then at 1:00 pm. Tickets are $39.99 (+ GST and plus food/drinks). You must purchase by the table. (Buy Brunch Tickets)
Hopefully two events in the place of a weekend on the slopes helps to make up for another postponement. We’re excited to see you at one or both events.
Until then, take care and stay healthy.
PS - in case you are wondering I wrote this entire update by myself without help from anyone ;)
